It appears that the status of the Vegas Golden Knights' No. 1 point-scorer is uncertain.
After Jack Eichel missed his first game of the season against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday due to illness, Vegas head coach Bruce Cassidy addressed the situation of his star player after the game.
"We're going to keep mixing around if Jack misses time," said Cassidy. "I don't know how much time he's going to miss."
Eichel was initially considered day-to-day, said Cassidy on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old centre leads Vegas in scoring with 41 points in 31 games, and he has dished a team-high 29 assists.
His absence caused the Golden Knights to shuffle their lines in order to fill the void Eichel left in the middle.
"Well Jack hasn't missed a game this year so this a little bit new to us," said Cassidy. "It's a big hole to fill."
Mitch Marner was among the players who played out of position at centre and was capable in the new role, according to Cassidy.
"Mitch knows his way around ... I think I said Mitch could play left D, so he might before the year's over," said Cassidy. "Right now it's centre. He's a smart guy, understands our system."
