Evander Kane is leaving North America.
The former Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks forward, who is an unrestricted free agent, is heading to Russia with the intention of signing with a KHL team, agent Dan Milstein told the Daily Faceoff on Wednesday.
Kane, 35, played last season with the Canucks where he played 71 games and recorded 13 goals and 31 points.
Throughout his 17-season NHL career, he had 339 goals and 648 points in 1,001 games.
Milstein said that while Kane is not signed yet, they are "very close" to signing with a KHL team and that an announcement is coming "over the next couple of days or so."
Drafted fourth overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009, Kane remained with the organization after its relocation to Winnipeg before playing for the Buffalo Sabres, San Jose Sharks, Oilers and Canucks.
