Juuse Saros allowed only one goal and Erik Haula sniped the game-winner as Finland took home Olympic bronze with a 6-1 win over Slovakia on Saturday.
Haula walked in over the blue line and rifled a shot top corner to put the Finns up 2-0 in the second. It ultimately held up as the winning goal.
Saros stopped 30-of-31 shots he faced, including a flurry of Slovakian chances early in the third when Finland led by only one goal.
Finland earned its fourth bronze medal in best-on-best Olympic play. They also won silver at Turin in 2006 and gold at Beijing in 2022.
Finnish forward Sebastian Aho opened the scoring at 12:33 of the first period by banging in a rebound in front of the net off a Miro Heiskanen point shot. Aho, 28, led Finland with four goals in his first Olympics.
The Slovaks answered with just under 30 seconds remaining in the second, as a dump-in bounced erratically off the end boards, allowing Tomas Tatar to convert an open chance in front of the net.
The contest briefly appeared close, but Finland added plenty of insurance in the final period.
Roope Hintz scored his first senior international goal by tipping in another Heiskanen point shot on a third-period power play. Kakko Kaapo streaked down the wing and wired a wrist shot in off the far post to make the score 4-1 Finland, only 42 seconds later.
Armia and Haula added empty-netters.
