Chris Tanev has been activated from injured reserve and will be in the lineup Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks, the Calgary Flames announced.
The Flames defenceman will slot into his first action since last week when he was struck in the head on a Nick Suzuki shot against the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 12.
Tanev’s return will no doubt be welcomed warmly by the Flames, who allowed 11 goals over the three game stretch in their top defender’s absence, going 1-2-0 against three teams outside of playoff position.
Calgary also sent down forward Radim Zohorna to its AHL affiliate in a corresponding move.
So far this season, Tanev has played 24 games, registering five assists with a -1 rating. He is averaging 19:54 of ice time per game.
Watch the Flames-Sharks game at 10:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West or SN NOW.
