In dire need of some offensive help, the Calgary Flames could be getting a big boost at the perfect time.
Flames winger Jonathan Huberdeau is on track to make his season debut on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Ryan Huska said Thursday during an appearance on The Fan Hockey Show.
"Our expectation is that we'll see him in Vegas for our next game here on Saturday night," Huska said. "That's what we're planning on and we're hoping for. We have a good practice here tomorrow, pre-game skate, and if everything continues to go as it has right now, we'll expect him in the lineup that night."
Huberdeau suffered an injury during a pre-season game against the Vancouver Canucks when he collided with goaltender Kevin Lankinen. He was placed on injured reserve to start the season, but has resumed skating in the last week.
The 32-year-old is coming off his best season in Calgary, scoring 28 goals and 62 points in 81 games in 2024-25.
Since being acquired in the trade that sent Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers, the Saint-Jerome, Que., native has 55 goals and 114 assists in 241 games for the Flames.
