The Calgary Flames will be without the forward they affectionately call 'Costco' against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
Justin Kirkland will be sidelined in Pittsburgh for the second half of a back-to-back after suffering a lower-body injury Friday night, per Sportsnet 960's Derek Wills.
The 28-year-old exited in the first period and did not join his team on the bench at the start of the second. The specific moment where the injury occurred is unclear.
Kirkland had logged 1:05 of ice time up to that point in the game with one hit.
Entering play on Friday, Kirkland had registered two goals and six assists in 20 games in the 2024-25 season.
