Calgary Flames rookie centre Martin Pospisil has been suspended three games for boarding Seattle Kraken defenceman Vince Dunn, the department of player safety announced Wednesday.
The incident occurred during the third period of the Flames' 4-2 loss to the Kraken on Monday night. Dunn had his back turned to the play as he was collecting a pass behind the Seattle net when Pospisil hit him hard into the boards.
After a review, Pospisil was issued a game misconduct for boarding and was ejected.
Dunn did not return to the game and also missed Tuesday's match against the Winnipeg Jets. The Kraken said he will be further evaluated upon the team's return to Seattle.
Speaking to reporters after Monday's game, Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol called the hit "garbage."
Pospisil, 24, has 15 points and 72 penalty minutes in 45 games this season.
The Flames are heading east for a road trip and next play Thursday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
