"Costco" is sticking around in Calgary.
The Flames have re-signed forward Justin Kirkland on a one-year, $900,000 contract after he played a career-high 21 games with the side in the 2024-25 season, the team announced Monday.
Kirkland became a fan favourite early in the season after playing hero in the Battle of Alberta in October and after downing the Penguins in a shootout.
In all, he finished the campaign with two goals and six assists before undergoing season-ending surgery on his knee in December.
However, his efforts didn't go unnoticed by the squad, as the 28-year-old journeyman was the Flames' nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for the season.
Kirkland, a native of Winnipeg, was originally selected by the Nashville Predators 62nd overall in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks in the 2022-23 season.
