Flames sign defenceman Erik Gudbranson to one-year contract

The Calgary Flames signed defenceman Erik Gudbranson to a one-year, $1.95 million deal, the team announced on Friday.

Gudbranson was drafted by the Florida Panthers third overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The 29-year-old played for the Panthers, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators before arriving in Calgary.

The 29-year-old from Ottawa has 21 goals and 56 assists (77 points) through 563 games played in his NHL career.
