The Calgary Flames are locking in defenceman Kevin Bahl to a long-term extension.
Bahl's new deal will span six years, with an average annual value of $5.35 million, the team announced Saturday.
The 25-year-old was acquired by the Flames as part of a trade with the New Jersey Devils for goaltender Jacob Markstrom. Calgary also used the first-round pick from that trade to draft Cole Reschny 18th overall.
The New Westminster, B.C., native scored three goals and had 20 points while averaging a career-high 21:23 of ice time in 73 games last season. In 221 career games, Bahl has seven goals and 45 points.
Bahl was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes but was traded to the Devils in 2019.
