Flyers' Frost out indefinitely, Myers week-to-week

The Philadelphia Flyers' injury woes worsened Thursday morning.

Defenceman Philippe Myers, who has been averaging about 20 minutes per game this season, suffered a fractured rib and is considered week-to -week, the team said Thursday.

Myers sustained the injury early on in Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres. During the first period, Myers collided with Sabres defenceman Jake McCabe. He was on the ice shortly after the play but did not return after the first intermission.

Morgan Frost, the 21-year-old forward who entered the lineup to replace the injured Sean Couturier, didn't make it through Tuesday's contest either. With less than five minutes remaining in the second period, Frost took an awkward hit from McCabe behind the Sabres' net and proceeded to skate off the ice hunched over. He did not return.

An MRI revealed that Frost suffered a dislocated left shoulder that will sideline him indefinitely, the Flyers said Thursday.

Frost and Myers join a growing list of injured Flyers. Defenceman Shayne Gostisbehere has yet to play this season due to COVID-19 protocols. Couturier is out for at least one more week after suffering a Costochondral separation, an injury in which the rib tears away from the cartilage that connects it to the breastbone.

Philadelphia next plays against the Boston Bruins Thursday night.
