Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere is looking to move recently acquired forward Ryan Johansen before Friday's trade deadline.
The Flyers traded defenceman Sean Walker and a 2026 fifth-round selection to the Colorado Avalanche for Johansen and a 2025 first-round selection on Wednesday. Johansen was then re-assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League after he cleared waivers.
Briere was asked by local reporters on Thursday if Johansen was part of the team's plans and replied, "probably not."
"We will see if we can give him a chance to go somewhere else," Briere said. "We haven't decided what the future looks like for him yet."
He added: "We're trying to see if there's something we can do, maybe if there's another team somewhere that has a need for him, so we've asked him to stand pat for a day or two."
Johansen registered 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points in 63 games with Colorado this season. He is in the seventh season of an eight-year, $64 million contract.
The Avalanche had acquired him from the Nashville Predators during the off-season in exchange for Alex Galchenyuk.
The 31-year-old from Vancouver has 578 career points (202 goals and 376 assists) in 905 games over 13 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Predators and Avalanche.
