Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Ryan Ellis is unlikely to play during the 2022-23 season, general manager Chuck Fletcher said on Thursday.
Fletcher added "it will be a bonus" if Ellis were able to play in the upcoming campaign.
Ellis, who has only played four games with the Flyers, has been sidelined since Nov. 13 with a lower-body injury.
Fletcher doesn't know if Ellis' issue is career ending, but acknowledged it is a possibility.
The 11-year pro played his first 10 seasons with the Nashville Predators before being traded to Philadelphia during the 2021 offseason in exchange for Philippe Myers and Nolan Patrick.
Ellis has recorded 75 goals and 195 assists with a plus-114 rating in 562 career appearances.
