The Philadelphia Flyers will be without Noah Cates for the remainder of their second-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Cates has a lower-body injury and was initially listed as day-to-day, but the Flyers announced Wednesday that he will not be available. It's not known when he suffered after playing 20:53 in Game 2.
The 27-year-old Cates had a goal and four points in eight games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs after enjoying the best offensive season of his career in 2025-26. The Stillwater, Minn., native set career highs with 18 goals, 29 assists and 47 points.
With Cates done for the series, the Flyers recalled top prospect Jett Luchanko from the OHL after the Brantford Bulldogs were eliminated in Game 7 by the Barrie Colts.
Carolina holds a 2-0 series lead with Game 3 set for Thursday night in Philadelphia (Watch Game 3 at 8 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
