Porter Martone is headed to Philadelphia.
The Flyers selected Martone sixth overall in the first round of the NHL Draft on Friday in Los Angeles.
Martone, 18, racked up 98 points (37 goals, 61 assists) in 57 games as captain of the OHL’s Brampton Steelheads this season.
The Peterborough, Ont., native also played for Canada’s world junior team, scoring one goal in three games. He was scratched for a pair of round-robin games after failing to record a point in the opening two contests.
However, Martone bounced back to become the lone junior player selected to Canada’s world championship roster in May, where he skated in two games for the team.
The six-foot-three, 208-pounder slotted fifth on Sportsnet analyst Jason Bukala’s prospect rankings earlier in June.
Bukala projects Martone as a top-line power winger who can play in all situations.
