Defenceman Rasmus Ristolainen underwent surgery on his ruptured triceps tendon, the Philadelphia Flyers announced Thursday.
According to the team, Ristolainen is expected to be out three months and will be fully recovered in time for the start of next season's training camp.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister, the head orthopedic surgeon for MLB's Texas Rangers.
Ristolainen, 29, played in only 31 games this season, recording one goal and three assists. His most recent appearance for the Flyers was on Feb. 10.
Over 713 career NHL games with the Flyers and Buffalo Sabres, the Finnish defender has 285 points (52 goals and 233 assists).
Philadelphia's season ended on Tuesday, with the team missing the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
