Christian Dvorak is staying in Philadelphia for the long haul.
The Flyers signed the 29-year-old centre to a five-year contract extension on Monday, which carries an average annual value of $5.15 million, per a team announcement.
In 39 games with Philly this season, Dvorak has nine goals and 25 points.
"We're very happy to have Christian be a part of the Philadelphia Flyers for the foreseeable future," said Flyers general manager Daniel Briere in a statement. "He has played a pivotal role in our team's success this season and proven to be a reliable, two-way centre that can be trusted in all situations. More importantly, he plays a big role in our locker room and has fit in seamlessly to our group and what we are building."
Dvorak joined the Flyers as a free agent on a one-year, $5.4 million contract in the summer. Because he only signed for one year, he was unable to pen a longer-term deal until Jan. 1.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Flyers had begun talking extension with Dvorak during Hockey Night in Canada on Dec. 27.
Drafted 58th overall by the Coyotes in 2014, the Palos, Ill., native has 114 goals and 160 assists through 10 seasons split between Arizona, the Montreal Canadiens and the Flyers.
Philadelphia entered Monday's action with a 21-12-7 record, sitting third in the Metropolitan Division.
