After Darcy Kuemper left the ice with an upper-body injury on Tuesday, Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar did not have an update on his status, saying "we'll see" when asked how long the team could be without its starting netminder.
Kuemper left the game midway through the second period of Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers, shortly after speaking with Bednar. The Avalanche starter did not return, and backup Pavel Francouz played the rest of the game, allowing three goals on 21 shots.
Kuemper had left Game 3 of the Avalanche's first round series against the Nashville Predators with an eye injury after Ryan Johansen's stick got caught in his mask. Francouz came on in relief, started Game 4 and held a .902 save percentage along with a 2.97 goals-against average.
During the regular season, Francouz played in 21 games and posted a .916 save percentage.
