The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Samuel Montembeault to a two-year contract extension, the club announced Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Montembeault, 25, compiled an 8-18-6 record in 38 games with the Canadiens last season, along with a 3.77 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage.
Claimed off waivers by the Canadiens last October, Montembeault has a career record of 17-26-9 with a 3.54 GAA and .892 save percentage with the Florida Panthers and Canadiens.
The Panthers picked the Becancour, Que. native in the third round (77th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
