Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone left Tuesday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning midway through the second period after tweaking a previous injury.
Stone scored two goals but skated just under eight minutes before leaving the game. He missed the team’s last game — a shootout win over the New York Islanders on Sunday — with an upper-body injury.
After the game, head coach Pete DeBoer said Tuesday’s injury was related to the one from the weekend, adding that the fact the team is entering the Christmas break contributed to the decision not to push Stone further.
The 29-year-old has been limited to only 19 games this season, but has six goals and 23 points. He missed close to a month earlier in the season with a lower-body injury.
In other Golden Knights news, starting goalie Robin Lehner didn’t dress for the game. DeBoer said after the game that Lehner is “day-to-day” with a lower-body injury suffered against the Islanders.
Defenceman Nic Hague was also scratched from the game for undisclosed reasons while defenceman Alex Pietrangelo and winger Evgenii Dadonov were added to COVID-19 protocols earlier in the day.
The Golden Knights are next scheduled to play the Colorado Avalanche on Dec. 27 after their contest Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings was postponed.
