Brayden McNabb will be hearing from the league.
NHL Player Safety announced Wednesday morning that the veteran defenceman will have a hearing for interference against Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Poehling.
McNabb was given a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for interference after throwing a late hit that injured Poehling midway through the first period of Tuesday night's contest.
The penalty occurred along the boards near the Ducks' blue line, with McNabb drilling Poehling hard into the boards. Poehling was in visible distress after the hit and had to be helped off the ice. The major penalty was confirmed after a video review.
The Ducks later announced at the start of the second period that Poehling would not return due to an upper-body injury. Head coach Joel Quenneville did not have an update on his condition after the game.
McNabb, 35, has a goal and two assists in 11 playoff games this season for Vegas.
Poehling, 27, has four goals and one assist in the same number of games for Anaheim.
The Golden Knights ended up winning 3-2 in overtime to take a 3-2 lead in the second-round series.
