After an impressive playoff run with the Stanley Cup-champion Vegas Golden Knights, forward Ivan Barbashev is staying in Nevada.
General manager Kelly McCrimmon announced the Golden Knights have signed Barbashev to a five-year contract extension worth $25 million.
Acquired in a deal with the St. Louis Blues prior to the trade deadline, Barbashev, 27, had seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 22 playoff games for the Golden Knights.
The Russian is coming off a two-year deal with an average annual value of $2.25 million.
The Golden Knights cleared space for Babashev's new deal earlier in the day by trading forward Reilly Smith to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick.
Barbashev also won the Stanley Cup in 2019 with the Blues, recording three goals and three assists in 25 playoff games.
This season, the six-foot-one Barbashev had 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 combined points in 82 games with the Blues and Golden Knights.
Barbashev has 84 goals and 110 assists for 194 points in 433 career games with the Blues and Golden Knights.
The Blues selected the Moncton Wildcats product in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.
