Thomas Harley's spot on Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off roster is secured after a standout showing in his debut on Saturday.
The Dallas Stars defenceman has reportedly been cleared to play for Canada in Monday's matchup against Finland regardless of Cale Makar's condition, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Harley did well in Makar's absence on Saturday, finishing with a minus-1 rating with two shots on goal, one hit and three blocked shots over 18:17 of ice time. He got some high praise from teammates and head coach Jon Cooper after the showing.
Makar is working to return from an illness that kept him out of a must-see matchup against the U.S. on Saturday. The defenceman told reporters on Sunday that he's doing everything possible to slot back into the lineup.
The Colorado Avalanche blueliner is currently a game-time decision.
Canada is slated to take on Finland in its final round-robin matchup — a must-win game for both sides should either want to advance to the Finals where a matchup with the U.S. waits.
Puck drops on the decisive showdown a 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT on Sportsnet.
