Goaltender Frederik Andersen has been activated by the Carolina Hurricanes off of the injured reserve list, according to team reporter Walt Ruff.
The 34-year-old has not played since Nov. 2 because of a blood clotting issue.
He has been cleared to resume on-ice activities since Jan. 31.
"In November, Frederik Andersen was diagnosed with a deep-vein thrombosis and subsequent pulmonary embolisms," Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said back in January. "He has been on anti-coagulation medication since that time, and working with a team of experts to obtain medical opinions as to how he can return to playing safely."
Andersen owns a 4-1 record, a 2.87 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage this season over six games. He was sidelined for nine days in October after taking a puck to the helmet.
Across 485 career appearances, Andersen has a 2.59 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
In a corresponding move, the Hurricanes placed goaltender Antti Raanta on waivers. Raanta had just been activated off IR on Wednesday after missing a month of play due to a lower-body injury.
Carolina also waived Brendan Lemieux and Tony DeAngelo.
