Carolina Hurricanes forward Max Pacioretty will have surgery to repair a torn Achilles and is expected to be sidelined for six months to recover.

Pacioretty was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Vegas Golden Knights on July 13 for future considerations.

He posted 19 goals and 37 points through 39 games last season during a campaign that saw plenty of time missed due to injury. Overall, the 33-year-old has topped the 20-goal plateau eight times over the course of his career, topping 30 goals six times and hitting a career-high 39 back in 2014.
