Carolina Hurricanes goalie Frederik Andersen was absent from practice on Monday — but it doesn't appear to be injury-related.
Andersen was not on the ice as he took a maintenance day, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported.
The netminder was pulled during Carolina's 5-4 double-overtime defeat in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday. He gave up four goals, including all three of Mitch Marner's hat trick, in the second period and was replaced by Brandon Bussi.
Andersen has served as Carolina's starter over the course of the team's run to the Stanley Cup Final. Saturday marked Bussi's first career post-season appearance.
During the regular season, Andersen and Bussi split the net relatively evenly, with Andersen posting a 3.05 goals-against average and an .874 save percentage over 35 games and Bussi putting up a 2.47 goals-against average and an .895 save percentage across 39 games.
Speaking to reporters, Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour said he has decided on a starter between Andersen and Bussi for Tuesday, but is keeping that information secret for now.
Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights goes Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
