Hurricanes' Ian Cole fined $5K for kneeing Jets' Mark Scheifele

Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Ian Cole has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for kneeing Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele.

The incident occurred during the third period of Tuesday's game between the Hurricanes and Jets when Cole kneed Scheifele in the Jets' zone.

Cole was ejected for the play.

The 32-year-old has registered a goal and two assists in 28 games for the Hurricanes this season.
