Hurricanes place defenceman Jake Gardiner on waivers

Defenceman Jake Gardiner has been placed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The move is being made with the intent of assigning Gardiner to the taxi squad while he’s sidelined with an injury.

The #Canes have placed Jake Gardiner on waivers with the intent of assigning him to the taxi squad, which would provide the team with valuable cap flexibility while Gardiner remains out of the lineup.
