Veteran goaltender Antti Raanta was placed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Raanta, 34, has struggled this season, posting a 3.61 goals-against average and .854 save percentage over 14 appearances. His last two starts saw him allow 10 goals on 54 shots — four against Vancouver on Dec. 9 and six against Nashville on Friday.
On Nov. 24, Raanta allowed eight goals on just 14 shots in an 8–2 loss to Tampa Bay.
A native of Finland, Raanta signed a one-year, $1.5-million deal with the Hurricanes before this season, his third with Carolina.
Across 267 career NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes and Hurricanes, Raanta has a 133-78-28 record, along with a 2.49 goals-against average and 9.15 save percentage.
The Hurricanes are fourth in the Metropolitan Division.
