The NHL has fined Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour $25,000 for "inappropriate conduct" during the team's loss to the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

Brind'Amour unleashed an expletive-filled tirade late in the third period after Sebastian Aho was given a slashing penalty which put the Hurricanes down two players with the score tied 2-2. While the Capitals didn't score on the power plays, they broke the tie shortly after and won 4-2.

After the game, Brind'Amour was more reserved in his comments, telling local reporters “It’s a tough way to end a game. It was a great game, great hockey game. ... It’s unfortunate. What are you going to do?”

Brind'Amour was fined $25,000 during the 2020 bubble playoffs after he criticized officials following a double-overtime loss to the Bruins.

The money from the fine will go to the NHL Foundation.
