The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenceman Mike Reilly to a one-year, $1.1 million contract, the team announced Tuesday.
Reilly, 31, had been a member of the New York Islanders for the past two seasons, totalling 18 appearances in 2024-25 and logging two assists in that span. He missed a majority of last year due to a heart procedure in November 2024.
“Mike is a veteran defenceman who is capable of stepping in and contributing on both ends of the ice,” said Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky in a statement. “He missed time with a health procedure last season, but returned to action in the spring and will be ready to go for training camp.”
The blueliner has totalled 418 career NHL games between the Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers. He's logged 124 points (18 goals, 106 assists) in that span.
Reilly was originally selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round (98th overall) in the 2011 draft.
