The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltender Zach Sawchenko to a one-year, two-way contract on Thursday.

The Calgary native will earn $750,000 in the NHL and $85,000 in the AHL, with a $110,000 guarantee.

“Zach is a young goaltender with NHL games under his belt,” said Hurricanes president and GM Don Waddell. “Adding Zach helps improve our organizational depth in the crease.”

The 24-year-old played seven games with the San Jose Sharks last season, his first games in the NHL as an undrafted rookie. Sawchenko held a 1-2-1 record with a 3.35 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

With the AHL's San Jose Barracudas, Sawchenko had a 4-10-0 record with a 4.03 goals-against average and a .877 save percentage in 2021-22.
