The Carolina Hurricanes are going back to Brandon Bussi in Game 5.
The rookie goaltender is getting his second career playoff start on Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights after an 18-save performance helped the Hurricanes to a Game 4 win on Tuesday.
Igor Kochetkov will serve as the primary backup for the second game in a row.
The Hurricanes told reporters that both Frederik Andersen and freshly called-up Amir Miftakhov are available as thirds, but it is unclear who will ultimately serve as the emergency backup. Andersen did not dress for Game 4.
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour explained to reporters on Tuesday that Andersen needed a rest after starting in each of the Hurricanes' playoff games prior, and in order to give him that, the Hurricanes chose to make him a healthy scratch.
Bussi, 27, holds a .900 save percentage and 2.28 goals-against average in two appearances during these playoffs. Andersen, 36, owns a .910 save percentage and 1.89 GAA over 16 games, but has struggled during the Stanley Cup Final.
