Andrei Svechnikov will be "out for at least a while" after an MRI on an upper-body injury, Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour said Tuesday.
Svechnikov missed the first eight games of the 2023-24 season because of a knee injury.
The 23-year-old had knee surgery in March for a torn ACL, and has one goal and 10 assists for 11 points, to go with 41 shots and 29 hits in 16 games this season.
Svechnikov had 23 goals and 55 points in 64 games last season, good for fourth in team scoring, despite his shortened season. The No. 2 overall draft pick from 2018 is also counted on by the Hurricanes to provide a physical presence.
