Hold your breath, Carolina Hurricanes fans.
Veteran forward Taylor Hall left Tuesday's game against the Washington Capitals early due to an upper-body injury and has been ruled out, the team announced.
The 34-year-old left the Hurricanes bench during the second period but briefly took part in a power-play shift before immediately exiting back down the tunnel. When the injury exactly occurred has yet to be determined.
He left the game after 4:17 of time on ice and one hit.
Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour said that the injury "doesn't look good" post-game.
The former Hart Trophy winner was an integral part of Carolina's Cup run last season and had gotten off to a solid start in 2026-27. Hall entered Tuesday with three goals and two assists through seven appearances.
