Already trailing, the Carolina Hurricanes got some bad news as they came out of the locker room for the start of the third period.
Forward William Carrier was ruled out of the game with an upper-body injury after appearing to injure his arm while delivering a hit early in the game on Vegas Golden Knights defenceman Jeremy Lauzon.
Carrier originally went back to the Carolina locker room, but eventually returned in the second period before being sidelined for the rest of the night.
The 31-year-old played just 6:51 with a minus-1 rating before exiting.
After the game — a 5-4 Hurricanes loss in double overtime — head coach Rod Brind'Amour didn't have an update on Carrier's status.
In 16 post-season games this spring, Carrier has four assists.
During the regular season, he had seven goals and 18 points in 70 games.
