Islanders home underdogs hosting Bruins in Game 6

What you Need To Know from Day 24 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs: The Canadiens still haven't trailed in a game for over 437 minutes, after finishing off the Jets in 4 games, and B's head coach Cassidy upset as Islanders prevail in high scoring affair.

The New York Islanders will be looking to bounce the Boston Bruins from this year's playoffs when they hit the ice for Game 6 of their East Division second-round series on Wednesday as +110 home underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Backed by another steady performance from goaltender Semyon Varlamov, the Islanders withstood a ferocious 18-shot onslaught in the third period to claim a 5-4 win in Game 5 of the series on Monday night. With the victory, New York now takes a 3-2 series lead into Wednesday night's matchup at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Overall, the Islanders were outshot by a wide 44-19 margin in Game 5, and have now surrendered 40 or more shots in four of the first five games of the series. But with their power play clicking, and Varlamov taking over duties in the crease in the wake of their loss in Game 1, the Islanders find themselves as -210 favourites on the NHL playoff series prices to reach the final four of the postseason for a second straight year.

While Varlamov has shone, racking up a .936 save percentage over his four appearances in the series, concerns have emerged between the pipes for the Bruins, who look to Wednesday's contest as -130 road favourites.

Pulled after allowing four goals on just 16 shots in the team's Game 5 defeat, the status of Boston starter Tuukka Rask remains uncertain entering Wednesday's action. Rask has amassed a middling .906 save percentage during the series and reportedly isn't 100%. Complicating matters is the Bruins' recent dismal performance at Nassau Coliseum, where they have scored just eight total goals while losing five of six meetings this season.

While the battle to represent the East Division in the Stanley Cup semifinals continues to rage, the Montreal Canadiens will now enjoy a well-earned rest after completing the sweep of the favoured Winnipeg Jets with a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 4 on Monday night.

Consistently set as longshots on both the NHL playoff series prices and the Stanley Cup futures since the postseason got underway, the Canadiens have finally started to gain some respect at sports betting sites. The first team to punch their ticket to the semifinals, the Canadiens now sport dramatically improved +900 odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Montreal will face either the Colorado Avalanche or the Vegas Golden Knights in the third round of the playoffs, and they entered Game 5 of their series on Tuesday night at +175 and +400, respectively, on the Stanley Cup odds. Game 6 of that series will be played Thursday.
