The New York Islanders were short-handed in a hurry on Saturday.
Forwards Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie were ruled out after the first period against the Toronto Maple Leafs with lower-body injuries, the team announced.
Maccelli, a former Leaf, suffered what appeared to be a leg injury after he got tangled up with Toronto defenceman Darren Raddysh.
Ritchie didn't return after he was hit by Nick Blankenburg less than two minutes into the game.
Maccelli entered the night second in team scoring with two goals and four assists in seven games.
Ritchie has one goal and one assist this season.
