The New York Islanders have placed veteran forward Leo Komarov on waivers, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.

The 34-year-old has suited up for six games with the Isles this season, going pointless and dishing out 15 hits while averaging 12:06 minutes of ice time.

Komarov is in his third year with the Islanders, after playing the first five seasons of his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The winger has one more year on his current deal after this season, which carries an average annual value of $3 million and a modified no-trade clause.

His Islanders currently rank fourth in the East Division so far this season, with a 5-4-3 record and a points percentage of .542.
