Islanders re-sign veteran defender Andy Greene to one-year deal

The New York Islanders have re-signed veteran defenceman Andy Greene to a one-year deal with $750,000, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

Per Friedman, the deal comes with $250,000 in bonuses.

The 38-year-old played last season and part of the previous one with the Islanders after a 14-year stint with the New Jersey Devils in which he served as captain for five seasons.

Greene averaged 17:35 minutes per night for the Islanders last season, posting five points through 55 games.

Through 988 career NHL tilts, the Trenton, Mich., native has 254 points to his name.
