A top prospect is set to join the New York Islanders.
Defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson signed a three-year entry-level contract, the team announced on Tuesday.
Aitcheson, 19, leads OHL defencemen in goals (28), points (70) and plus/minus (plus-45) through 54 games with the Barrie Colts this season.
The Colts captain has 171 points (63 goals, 108 assists) in 205 career games with the team.
A Toronto native, Aitcheson was selected by the Islanders in the first round, 17th overall, of last year's NHL Draft.
He competed for Canada at the most recent world juniors, compiling one goal and three assists in seven games en route to a bronze medal.
