Matias Maccelli is on his way out of Toronto.
Restricted free agent forward Maccelli has signed a one-year deal to join the New York Islanders, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Wednesday.
TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie reported that the deal is worth $2.25 million.
The 25-year-old had 14 goals and 25 assists over 71 games in his lone season with the Maple Leafs after he was acquired via trade from the Utah Mammoth last off-season.
The Leafs did not make Maccelli a qualifying offer earlier this week.
Maccelli was drafted in the fourth round, 98th overall, by the Arizona Coyotes in 2019.
He has 51 goals and 118 assists in 295 NHL games, split between Arizona/Utah and Toronto.
