New York Islanders goalie Semyon Varlamov returned to the crease at the start of the second period after a collision with Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point forced him out of the game mid-way through the first period.
While heading towards the net on a scoring chance, Point appeared to be pushed into Varlamov by Islanders defenceman Adam Pelech.
Varlamov was in visible pain on the ice and after speaking to a trainer left the ice and went to the locker room. Ilya Sorokin, a rookie who has made five starts in these playoffs, replaced him in the net.
Despite seemingly being pushed into Varlamov, Point was given a two-minute penalty for goaltender interference. The Islanders then scored on that power play to tie the game 1-1.
