Jaromir Jagr has assist in first game of 32nd professional season

Check this out, as 48-year old legend Jaromir Jagr returns to the ice for Kladno in the Czech Republic, and sets up teammate Matyas Filip for the goal.

Jaromir Jagr is still a future Hall of Famer because he's still an active player.

The 48-year-old returned to the ice Wednesday for Kladno, the club he owns in the Czech Republic, to kick-off his 32nd career professional season. He had an assist in a 7-5 win over HC Dukla Jihlava.

His first professional season came all the way back in 1988-89, with the same Kladno team he plays for now.

Jagr, who last played in the NHL in the 2017-18 season as a member of the Calgary Flames, addressed his longevity in a recent interview in Russia, saying the pandemic disrupted his routines but this won't be his last year playing hockey.

"This year is very different from others," Jagr said in November, according to NHL.com. "We don't know what is waiting for us tomorrow and it takes a lot of energy. This year I wasn't practicing as hard as in previous years but I still want to play this season. I think it might happen in the playoffs. I want to be a player who helps his team to win. I'm not this player now but I want to help [Kladno] to return to the top division.

"I can't say how long I want to keep playing. The game is getting more difficult. I think I kind of lost the drive when I wanted to prove that I'm still capable of getting better. I feel a lack of motivation to keep playing, though this year is definitely not the last in my career."

Kladno, which was relegated to the Czech Republic's second division last season, was scheduled to play an outdoor game this month but that was postponed until next December due to the pandemic. Jagr says he plans to remain active long enough to play in that game.

The five-time Art Ross winner and 1999-2000 Hart Trophy winner still sits third on the NHL's all-time goals list with 766 and second on the all-time points list with 1,921.
