Jeff Skinner is taking his talents to Europe.
The forward signed a one-year deal with Swiss National League club EHC Biel-Bienne on Friday, the team announced.
A veteran of more than 1,000 NHL games over 16 seasons, the 34-year-old Skinner played last season with the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks placed Skinner on waivers on Feb. 16 for the purposes of terminating his contract.
Skinner signed a one-year, $3-million contract with the Sharks as a free agent last summer. He had six goals and 13 points in 32 games with San Jose and missed time early in the season with a lower-body injury.
Skinner won the Calder Trophy with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011 and has scored at least 30 goals in six different seasons. But his offence declined the last few years as he bounced around from the Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers and the Sharks.
If this is it for his NHL career, Skinner will finish with 379 goals and 333 assists over 1,110 career games.
