Jets claim goalie Anton Forsberg off waivers from Hurricanes

Patrik Laine scored the overtime winner, added another goal and an assist on the night as the Winnipeg Jets topped the Calgary Flames 4-3 in their season opener.

For the second time this week, goaltender Anton Forsberg has been claimed off waivers.

Forsberg was claimed on Friday by the Winnipeg Jets after being placed on waivers Thursday by the Carolina Hurricanes, who had picked the 28-year-old up after the Edmonton Oilers waived him on Tuesday.

The move from the Jets comes after Winnipeg lost netminder Eric Comrie on waivers to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

Forsberg posted a 1-1 record in three appearances with the Hurricanes last season to go along with a 3.35 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage. The Harnosand, Sweden, native spent most of 2019-20 in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, where he went 15-9-2 with a 2.95 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

Forsberg signed a one-year deal with the Oilers back in October.
