The Winnipeg Jets blue line was forced to play shorthanded against the Los Angeles Kings.
Defenceman Haydn Fleury left the game in the second period after blocking a shot from Kings forward Adrian Kempe.
Fleury was not on the Winnipeg Jets bench to begin the third period after he tried to test the lower-body ailment.
Head coach Scott Arniel told reporters that the puck hit the side of his kneecap and he's still undergoing evaluation to determine the severity of the injury.
The 29-year-old was on the ice for 11:42 before leaving.
Fleury is in his second season with the Jets after appearing in 39 games last season, recording seven assists. In 308 career games with the Jets, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Tampa Bay Lightning, he has 10 goals and 34 assists.
