Jets do not make qualifying offers to Svechnikov, Phillips

Winnipeg Jets forward Evgeny Svechnikov and defenceman Markus Phillips will become unrestricted free agents after the team did not give them qualifying offers.

Svechnikov had seven goals and 12 assists in 72 games for the Jets last season — his first with Winnipeg after the Detroit Red Wings did not make a qualifying offer..

Phillips split last season between Manitoba and Ontario of the AHL.

The Jets did make qualifying offers to the following restricted free agents: Forwards Mason Appleton, Pierre-Luc Dubois, David Gustafsson, Jansen Harkins, Jeff Malott and Kristian Vesalainen and defencemen Leon Gawanke and Jonthan Kovacevic.
