It doesn't sound like it will be long before Josh Morrissey returns to the Winnipeg Jets lineup.
The star defenceman is day-to-day with an upper-body injury, head coach Scott Arniel told reporters Friday before the Jets' game against the Anaheim Ducks (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT).
Arniel added Morrissey was feeling better Friday after exiting Wednesday's game against the Colorado Avalanche.
After Friday's game, Winnipeg is off until next Tuesday.
Morrissey attempted to throw a hit at the end of the first period, but missed the check and collided hard with the glass. He was holding his right hand in pain with his glove down on the ice, and he then headed to the locker room for intermission.
Morrissey did return for the start of the second period, but exited again after just one shift.
The 31-year-old has accumulated three assists in four games to begin the season. He appeared in 77 games last campaign, totalling 14 goals and 41 assists for 55 points while being a plus-six.
Morrissey finished top-10 in Norris Trophy voting from 2022-25.
