The Winnipeg Jets' blue line has taken a significant hit.
Josh Morrissey exited against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday with an upper-body injury, the team announced.
The defenceman attempted to throw a hit at the end of the first period, but missed the check and collided hard with the glass. He was holding his right hand in pain with his glove down on the ice, and he then headed to the locker room for intermission.
Morrissey did return for the start of the second period, but exited again after just one shift.
After the game, Jets head coach Scott Arniel told reporters that he had no update on Morrissey's status and said the defenceman will get re-evaluated on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old has accumulated three assists in three games to begin the season. He appeared in 77 games last campaign, totalling 14 goals and 41 assists for 55 points while being a plus-six.
Morrissey finished top-10 in Norris Trophy voting from 2022-25.
